Different Pictures and Meanings of Nautical Star Tattoos

Have you ever wonder what do stars represent? Star is a common figure seen in many cultures and religious organizations, even in flags of several countries. However, do you believe that stars have deep meanings associated in life? In some cultures, a star symbolizes luck. While on the other hand, there are individuals saying that a star symbolizes evil. Regardless of its meaning there are still individuals who are fond of star figures. Often, stars are used as tattoos. These days, nautical star tattoos are said to be in demand among tat fanatics.

Origin of nautical star

Nautical star tattoos were originated from sailors. During early years, seafarers used to ink stars on their wrists. They believed that this will guide them from any accidents in the sea. Being a sailor is not an easy job and the risk of getting lost is very high. Besides, sailors are superstitious people and they believed that this star will help them get home.

Guidance, freedom and appeal

Nautical Star is used to represent Polaris or the north evening star. It is true that Polaris is a shining star seen at night. Even the bible stated that this star is the one that guided the three wise men from reaching the place where Jesus Christ was born. Until now, there were still individuals who believed how sailors give meaning to this star. As time past, nautical star evolved to over hundreds of different designs.

In the modern age, punk rockers and lesbians are ones who used nautical star tattoos. These are commonly displayed on the wrist. For lesbians, this star symbolizes "freedom". It is because they are free to reveal what kind of personalities they have. In other words, there are no restrictions for them. Otherwise, they are wearing watch to cover up their tattoo during daytime. However, they reveal their true colors at night by displaying their pride out of the crowd.

Last but not the least is music. Everyone loves rock music over the years. And of course to add appeals to their gigs, rockers were inked with a nautical star figure on their wrists. Until now, you might observe that some rock artists have tattoos on their wrists like the Sailor Jerry and Avril Lavigne, who is a popular rock female vocalist.

Despite the different representations of nautical star tattoos, it is concluded that they only symbolized the same thing and that is to find ones way. Tattoos are great forms of art. Only then, getting tattooed is a lifetime commitment. That is why choosing the design you want is something that you should consider. If you want to commemorate a meaningful event, a friend of a religion then, tattoo might be the best option to do such thing.
